“Welcome To Our Life Every Day”: Sophie Cunningham Shares Cheeky Response As Teammate Caitlin Clark Takes On Coaching Job

Former Missouri Tigers guard and now Indiana Fever standout Sophie Cunningham recently reacted to a viral moment of her teammate, Caitlin Clark. On Saturday, July 19, Bleacher Report posted a video on Instagram in which the former Iowa Hawkeyes superstar can be seen giving orders to her 2025 WNBA All-Star team, given that she took on the role of a courtside team captain.

This happened because Clark could no longer play in this year’s All-Star Game due to her reaggravated groin injury that she suffered during her team’s 85-77 regular-season win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, July 16. It forced Clark into a coaching role for the annual exhibition, as the Instagram post shows Clark drawing up a play for her squad, and when they missed the shot, she playfully booed them from the sidelines.

“Caitlin Clark showing her team tough love 😂,” Bleacher Report captioned the post on Instagram with a laughing emoji.

This prompted many to react with hilarious as well as supportive comments for Clark, who took on an unusual route due to her unavailability. Joining in on this trend was Cunningham, who dropped a six-word reaction, claiming that Clark heckling and being a tough, vocal leader is a regular thing for coach Stephanie White’s Fever.

“Welcome to our life every day,” Cunningham wrote.

The 28-year-old doubled down on her comment by sharing a cheeky response.

“I feel sorry for no one,” she wrote.

Cunningham joined the Fever in January of this year. She was dealt there in a four-team trade that included the Dallas Wings, the Connecticut Sun, and her former team, the Phoenix Mercury. Cunningham spent her first five seasons (2019-24) in the WNBA with coach Nate Tibbetts’ Mercury, before joining the Fever with Clark as her teammate.

In just a short period from then until now, it seems as though Clark has imposed her will onto her teammates, which includes the likes of veterans such as Cunningham, and become both the team’s go-to playmaker and scorer, as well as their vocal leader. This trait has now been bolstered with Cunningham’s comments, despite them being playful.

On the same day, Sophie Cunningham showed her support for All-Stars, such as Caitlin Clark, for their equal pay movement during the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game.

This is because they donned black shirts that read “Pay us what you owe us” in bold white letters in response to the alleged lack of progress towards new CBA negotiations. Cunningham then reposted one of the WNBPA’s Instagram videos on her own story.
