Predicting Mark Campbell’s TCU Starting Lineup for 2025-26 Season as Hailey Van Lith Makes Way for New Blood

Under head coach Mark Campbell, the TCU women’s basketball team had an impressive 2024-25 season, finishing with a school-record 34 wins, earning Big 12 regular season and tournament titles and reaching the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.

Hailey Van Lith, the Big 12 Player of the Year, was the team’s star, alongside Sedona Prince, who anchored the defense. With both stars departing due to exhausted eligibility, Campbell now has to overhaul his roster to maintain the momentum. Here’s a prediction based on returning talent and Campbell’s transfer portal moves on who could fill TCU’s voids.

What Will TCU’s Starting Five Look Like Next Year?

TCU’s historic season last year relied on a transfer-heavy roster. Van Lith averaged 17.9 points and 5.3 assists, earning All-Big 12 First Team honors and setting a program record with approximately 196 assists. Prince in center, posted 17.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game, earning All-Big 12 First Team and All-Defense recognition.

Madison Conner, a sharpshooter, contributed 14.6 points, hitting approximately 137 three-pointers at 45.5%, seventh nationally and a TCU single-season record. The Horned Frogs made a program-record 350 three-pointers, and their defense, fueled by Prince’s rim protection, ranked among the nation’s best.

However, now Campbell needs to shine his recruiting philosophy once again to secure new recruits and utilize them so that they can take the places of stars like Van Lith and Conner.

Point Guard: Olivia Miles (Redshirt Senior)

Miles, a Notre Dame transfer and three-time All-American, committed to TCU in April 2025, forgoing the WNBA Draft. Averaging 14.3 points, 7.1 assists, and 6.9 rebounds at Notre Dame in 2022-23, she’s a dynamic playmaker who has the potential to replace Van Lith.

    Shooting Guard: Maddie Scherr (Senior)

Scherr, a Kentucky transfer and 2024-25 contributor, averaged 8.2 points and 3.4 assists in limited minutes last season. Her defensive intensity and 36.7% three-point shooting make her a strong fit to replace Conner’s scoring. Campbell praised her “relentless energy” during the 2024-25 campaign.

    Small Forward: Taylor Bigby (Senior)

Bigby, a USC transfer, appeared in 21 games in 2024-25, averaging 7.4 points and shooting 34.9% from three. Her defensive skills and experience as a Pac-12 starter make her a strong candidate to start, filling the void left by departing wing players.

    Power Forward: Marta Suárez (Senior)

Suárez, a 6-foot-3 Cal transfer, joined TCU in April 2025, bringing 12.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game from her 2024-25 season. Her scoring versatility and rebounding make her an ideal replacement for departing forwards.

    Center: Clara Silva (Sophomore)

Silva, a 6-foot-7 Kentucky transfer, joined TCU in April 2025 to replace Prince. She averaged 4.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 12.1 minutes at Kentucky in 2024-25, showcasing shot-blocking potential. Her size and international experience with Portugal’s national team fit Campbell’s pick-and-roll system.

Campbell’s track record of landing players like Van Lith, Prince, and Conner hints that TCU has the potential to have significant profit with the transfer portal.

Recent additions include Suárez and Donovyn Hunter, a returning guard who started in 2024-25 and could compete for a starting role. Speculation about high-profile targets like USC’s JuJu Watkins or UConn’s Azzi Fudd is floating around, but they lack any solid evidence, as neither has entered the portal.
