Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers recently revealed who she thinks are the biggest trash-talkers in the WNBA. On Monday, Sept. 29, Bueckers appeared on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ and was asked about topics from the league, such as trash-talking, the playoff landscape, and her overall rookie year.
When asked about trash-talking in the league, Bueckers named Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas and Minnesota Lynx guard Courtney Williams as two of the most prominent trash-talkers in the WNBA. This is because, for the Hopkins, Minnesota, native, their trash-talk fuels her more, especially when they start it, and then she chimes in right after.
“Trash-talker, I would say Alyssa Thomas. She’s one that gets into some little trash-talk. Yeah, she’s tough. Courtney Williams, the Stud Budz, you know, they talk a little game. So, yeah, I’ll say those guys,” Bueckers said (0:06).
Thomas and coach Nate Tibbetts’ Mercury recently eliminated Williams and the rest of coach Cheryl Reeve’s Lynx team from 2025 playoff contention in the semifinals. This is because Phoenix defeated Minnesota, 86-81, in Game 4 of their semifinals series to win the matchup, 3-1, and advance to the 2025 WNBA finals. Last season, it was the Lynx that made it all the way to the final.
For Bueckers, she just wrapped up her rookie year in the league with coach Chris Koclanes’ Dallas Wings, where she was named the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year after she averaged 19.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per contest. Bueckers plans to play in the upcoming season of the Unrivaled Basketball League later this year. Dallas was not able to make it to the 2025 playoffs, finishing with an overall 10-34 record.

Paige Bueckers Claims She Never Initiates Trash-Talking
In the same interview on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show,’ Paige Bueckers was asked about her trash-talking style and how it fits in with her overall playing style. For Bueckers, she likes to keep things subtle and nonchalant, and said she never initiates it. Nevertheless, if it does occur, it fires her up further.
“It’s like subtle jabs, like just playful. I don’t really start it, but if somebody like is really talking, then it gets me going,” Bueckers said.
