Paige Bueckers lived up to her hype from her UConn career as soon as she entered the league. Coming from a national championship season, Bueckers took the WNBA by storm. The Dallas Wings drafted Bueckers as the first overall pick this year.
She repaid that faith with an outstanding season. Paige averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds. She led all rookies in scoring and assists. Bueckers was also named the WNBA All-Star starter. She also set a new rookie record for points in a single game with 44.
Paige Bueckers comfortably won the Rookie of the Year award with 70 out of 72 first-place votes. Despite Bueckers’ exceptional year, the Dallas Wings’ season was forgettable. Wings finished last in the table with a 10-34 record.
Dallas fans were adamant to give the boot to head coach Chris Koclanes. Their wishes came true on September 30 when the Dallas Wings fired Chris. There hasn’t been much talk around a replacement yet. However, Sandy Brondello has surfaced as an option. Unfortunately, fans are not that pleased with her either.
Per @JakeLFischer, the Wings are reportedly focused on candidates with head coaching experience. “And that has led various league sources to point to (Sandy) Brondello as a contender to be the next head coach for Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers.”

As per WNBA insider Jake Fischer, the Wings are exploring the opportunity to bring Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart’s former coach, Brondello. The former New York Liberty head coach might be a solid option to lead Paige Bueckers, as per Fischer. Fans, however, do not think she is the right choice.
“Please god no. Her entire career has been underachieving with stacked superteams. Please get someone with a modern vision and NBA experience,” one fan commented.
“We not hungry. Go get Noelle Quinn or a college coach,” another said.
“Sandy go anywhere but Dallas,” another fan replied.
“We do not want Sandy bruh,” one user claimed.
“I don’t think sandy would be good for Dallas. She’s not that good with a young core. Boucek may be a better option,” another explained.
“Please nooooooooooo Curt Miller. Sandy is a wonderful person but she’s not the coach of the future for Paige and this franchise,” another exclaimed.
“Sandy Brondello’s not a good coach though that’s why the Liberty let her go,” one fan said.
Sandy Brondello’s Last Season With New York Liberty

Sandy Brondello led Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart, and the team to their first-ever WNBA championships in 2024. Liberty started the 2025 season in great form. They began with a dominant 9-0 win streak and also qualified for the playoffs rather comfortably.
However, Liberty faced a resilient Phoenix Mercury in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. Mercury won the series 2-1 with dominant displays in Games 2 and 3. The Phoenix Mercury reached the finals. Liberty, on the other hand, chose to part ways with Sandy Brondello.
It was just hours after Breanna Stewart dropped the f-bomb in reply to the question of Brondello’s future in New York. Shockingly enough, Liberty let their head coach go just one year after winning a WNBA championship. Is Brondello and Wings the perfect match?
