Anthony Davis, who now plays for the Dallas Mavericks, sent a heartfelt message to his fellow No. 1 draft pick: “What’s up Paige, AD here, from one first round, you know, overall pick to another, I just want to say congratulations. Welcome to Dallas. can’t wait to get you here to support you. Come to some games to watch you do your thing. congrats again, enjoy the night.”

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott joined the welcome party with his own video message: “Congratulations, Paige, welcome to Dallas. Bueckers Buckets is here.” The support from established Dallas sports figures highlights the excitement surrounding Bueckers’ arrival to the Wings.

Her journey included overcoming significant injuries during her sophomore and junior years, which she credits to her faith and support system.

“I grew in my faith. I leaned in my faith in God’s purpose for me and just gave up my own understanding and switched my framing from like a why me to why not me, like why can I not overcome this? Why can I not come back and be better” Bueckers explained.

Looking ahead to her WNBA career, Bueckers expressed excitement about competing against former UConn teammates and the entire league. “Obviously, all the UConn alums, my former teammates, Liv Aaliyah, and everybody else, honestly, I’m just so excited to compete. It’s been a childhood dream, and just to be able to share that.”
