“She Wishes” “Moves Like Kobe”: Hoops Fans React to Paige Bueckers’ Comparisons With $90M Worth NBA Star

Former UConn Huskies star Paige Bueckers is already making waves in the WNBA. Since getting drafted with the first pick in the 2025 NFL draft by the Dallas Wings, Bueckers has emerged as a star. She has even started to draw comparisons to some of the biggest stars in the NBA.

On Thursday, the ESPNW Instagram account made a post comparing Bueckers to Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving, who has an estimated net worth of $90 million. On the second slide of the post, side-by-side videos of Bueckers and Irving making the same move were posted. In the clip, both players are showing off their basketball handles and finishing abilities. Irving is known for having one of the deepest “bags” in NBA history.

This led to a big reaction from fans, with some agreeing and some disagreeing with the comparison.

    “She wishes,” one fan wrote.

“Paige low-key moves like Kobe,” one fan commented.

“She really play and shoot like Austin reaves ngl,” one fan added.

Fans continued to react in the comments.

“You means she tries to be like him lmao you can’t compare his bag or handles to anyone,” one fan wrote.

“Also, just saw @kenhoops32 on TT talking about Kemba Walker as an influence as well. Paige is a serious hooper, I’m sure she studied (and still does) many greats as visionary leaders do,” one fan commented.

“Kyrie ain’t the only *** with handles but she cooked tho,” one fan added.

Paige Bueckers Suffered a Pulled Muscle on Tuesday

Paige Bueckers appears to be deserving of the Kyrie Irving comparisons. Despite being less than a season into her WNBA career, she is already one of the league’s biggest stars. However, on Tuesday night’s game against the New York Liberty, she left the game with a back muscle strain. She left the game with two minutes left in the third quarter.

She told reporters that she stretched her back and received massage gun treatment before returning to the bench at the start of the fourth quarter and finishing the game. Bueckers explained what happened with reporters after the game.

“I was just dribbling the ball and just felt a tightness come along,” Bueckers said. “It’s day to day. I’m hoping it won’t take me out. Just get some treatment, get some rest.”

The Wings are in action next on Friday, again against the Liberty. The coaching staff has not provided an update on Bueckers’ status for the game.
