Paige Bueckers Leads Move as Plan Behind CBA Negotiations Becomes Clear

Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers is using her star power to lead a movement for the continued growth and well-being of her fellow players. On Monday, Dec. 15, women’s basketball reporter Kendra Andrews interviewed Bueckers at the Unrivaled Basketball League, in which Bueckers is participating, given that she is in her first offseason.

Andrews asked the young talent what she believes the benefits are of having so many great players, especially from the WNBA, under one roof in Unrivaled, as this can help fortify their case in their fight for better compensation against the CBA. For Bueckers, it is definitely a welcome sight to have a multitude of WNBA representatives in the offseason tournament, as it can display players’ unity on a large scale.

“Unity is the best way to display strength. So for us to be together, all be on the same page, ask questions, get to understand what we are standing for…It’s hard to do that during the offseason…For a lot of very strong women to be in one area and display that unity, it’s really important. We want to take full advantage,” Bueckers was quoted as saying.

The Unrivaled Basketball League, founded by WNBA superstars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, is a three-on-three women’s basketball league that gives players competitive games during the offseason. This is Bueckers’ first year of competing in it, as she is the current star of Breeze BC, one of the expansion teams entering the league in its second season.

The Ongoing WNBA Players-CBA Negotiations Are Extended Until January 2026

As mentioned, the ongoing negotiations between the WNBA Players’ Association, led by Napheesa Collier, and the CBA, with regard to having better compensation for players, will run through January of next year.

To be specific, the set deadline for an agreement between the two parties should be made by Jan. 9. Otherwise, both parties may settle for an unsatisfactory agreement that does not meet each other’s expectations.
