Paige Bueckers got drafted by the Dallas Wings as their first WNBA Draft pick earlier this year. Paige took the league by storm in her rookie season. Geno Auriemma’s former star continued her splendid form after the national championship-winning season with UConn.
Despite the Wings’ poor season, Paige was clearly their best player. In fact, she was by far the best rookie, as she won the Rookie of the Year award. Paige averaged 19.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists. After a disappointing season and the head coach’s firing, the Dallas Wings have something to be happy and hopeful about for the next season.
The Wings have secured the first draft pick for the 2026 WNBA Draft. This is the second year in a row for them after drafting Paige as their No. 1 pick in 2025. Now, Dallas has the chance to reunite Paige Bueckers with her girlfriend and former UConn teammate Azzi Fudd.
Many believe Wings need a quality center and should go after Lauren Betts. However, the possibility of Fudd landing in Dallas is now high. In the most recent mock draft, Spanish international Awa Fam was cited as the No. 1 draft pick, followed by Betts, Olivia Miles, and Fudd at 4.

There’s a good chance that Wings would still go for Fudd. The UConn star has had an injury-ridden college career, and nobody knows that feeling better than Paige. Azzi played her longest season when UConn won the NCAA title. She showcased her talent and why she is rated so highly.
Now in her redshirt senior year, Fudd is destined to lead the Huskies. A lot can change over the season, and Fudd certainly has the talent to end up as the No. 1 pick at the 2026 WNBA Draft. Paige-Azzi reunion might just bring glory to Dallas.
Fans React to Dallas Wings’ Draft Lottery
Fans were divided after the Wings secured the second No. 1 draft pick in two years.
“Yeah we see what happening,” one fan said about possible Paige-Azzi reunion.
“Rigged,” one fan put up allegations.
“The league wants Azzi in Dallas so badly! They wanna exploit her and Paige’s relationship for money and ratings. Let them be a couple and hopefully Minny grabs her,” one fan speculated.
“Azzi Paige same team again,” one fan hoped.
“Dallas needs a big,” one fan suggested.
“Rigged,” one fan put up allegations.
