“Hooping for a Cure”: Paige Bueckers’ GF Azzi Fudd Looks Back at Training Camp With Heartwarming Message

UConn star Azzi Fudd is known for her incredible play on the basketball court for the Huskies. However, she has found a way to impact young lives and be a role model in other ways. Last weekend, the 22-year-old helped host the annual “Azzi Fudd Basketball Camp.” This year, the camp helped support Love Abby.

It is a charity in honor of a couple’s daughter, who passed away at age 13 after a seven-year battle with cancer. The charity raises funds and helps provide scholarships to high school graduates pursuing a college education.

On Wednesday, Fudd, who is Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend, posted a TikTok video showcasing some fun moments from this year’s camp. In the caption, she sent a heartwarming message about the reason they hold the camp every year.

“9 years of Azzi Fudd basketball camp, Hooping for a cure,” Azzi Fudd wrote. “This camp is always a full circle moment. Back at my high school, St. John’s, doing what I love for a cause that means everything. It only felt right that this year the camp proceeds went to Love, Abby, honoring Abby Zittoun’s legacy of kindness, joy, and impact.

“Huge thank you to Paula’s Choice for helping us bring this years camp to life! Any my passionate, all star coaching staff who brought positive energy all weekend,” she added.

After Leading the “Azzi Fudd Basketball Camp,” Azzi Fudd Prepares for a Bigger Leadership Role at UConn

Now that Azzi Fudd is done with her duties with her annual camp, she is preparing for a leadership role with the UConn Huskies. While she was certainly a leader on the team last year, she will step even further into that role next season. With Paige Bueckers starting her WNBA career, Fudd will look to play a bigger role on and off the court.

On the court, Fudd will be expected to pick up some of the missing scoring that will be lost with Bueckers leaving the team. Off the court, she will need to help lead the young players joining the team, similar to how she led the young players at her basketball camp.
