Ohio State’s Kaia Henderson Enters Transfer Portal With ‘Do Not Contact’ Tag

While the transfer portal deadline was April 24, 2025, there’s still movement around the portal, and Ohio State’s Kaia Henderson has entered the portal. Henderson, a New York native, entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.

The portal deadline applies only to players who wish not to sit out a season, with exceptions, and Henderson falls into one of them. Players who are graduate-level or receive a waiver are eligible to play without sitting out the season, and Henderson is entering the portal as a graduate transfer.

Ohio State’s Kaia Henderson Seeks a New Home.

Henderson spent the last three years in Columbus, and she’s now entered the portal with a “Do not contact” tag, signalling that she probably has a destination in mind already.

Despite spending just three years with Ohio State, Henderson qualifies as a graduate transfer because she earned enough credits to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication degree this spring.

Henderson never really cracked the rotation at Ohio State during her time there. She made 26 appearances off the bench in her first two seasons, but never made it off the bench in the 24/25 season.

She averaged 0.9 points per game throughout her stay in Ohi,o and her most productive appearance came in the 23-24 season when she scored six points against the Ohio Bobcats as a sophomore.

When Henderson joined Ohio State, the competition for the point guard position was very stiff. She was behind current WNBA professional Jacy Sheldon and recent graduate Madison Greene. Last season, she was benched by No. 2 overall 2024 prospect Jaloni Cambridge.

Henderson joins Faith Carson and Cotie McMahon as Buckeyes who entered the portal this spring. Carson has since joined Grand Canyon University, while McMahon joined Ole Miss. Henderson made an impact for the Buckeyes off the court, representing the women’s basketball program in university events.

This month, she took part in a college athlete panel during the Memorial golf tournament week in Dublin, Ohio.

The Buckeyes have four scholarship spots left on their roster. In the offseason, they added two names from the transfer portal: T’Yana Todd from Boston College and Kylee Kitts from Florida, who committed to the program ahead of next season.
