Former UConn star Paige Bueckers was selected by the Dallas Wings with the first pick in the 2025 WNBA draft. She has already become one of the league’s biggest stars and was part of WNBA All-Star Weekend this past weekend.
For several months, there have been rumors that Bueckers and her former teammate, Azzi Fudd, are in a relationship. While it seemed clear to many fans that Bueckers and Fudd were dating based on in-person and social media interactions, it had not been confirmed. However, at All-Star Weekend, Bueckers participated in WAG Talk.
In a video posted to its Instagram account, Bueckers answered several questions about her girlfriend. Many of the questions had strong allusions to Fudd and it looked like she might not 100% confirm the relationship. However, in the final question, Bueckers was asked to reveal her girlfriend, and she said her name is Azzi Fudd.

While the confirmation that Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd are in a relationship made headlines for fans and media members, it was not news to everyone in their personal lives.
Notably, Nika Muhl, who is a former UConn teammate of both players, was aware of their relationship. In a clip posted by the WNBA Got Game Instagram account on Wednesday morning, Muhl was asked how long she knew about their relationship.
“If you only knew. I’m so good at keeping secrets. That’s all I’m gonna say,” Muhl said.

Azzi Fudd Reveals Her Nickname Came from Paige Bueckers
Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers were teammates for four years on the UConn Huskies. Although it is unclear when their romantic relationship started, they were good friends throughout their time together. Bueckers is even responsible for Fudd’s nickname, “The People’s Princess.”
On Tuesday, Fudd appeared on the “Good Game with Sarah Spain” podcast. During the episode, Fudd spoke about where her nickname came from.
“I think Paige made a comment about how I’m the princess because coach Geno Auriemma doesn’t yell at me and somehow that morphed into people calling me ‘The People’s Princess,” Fudd said. “Yeah, I’m not really sure. I know I’m not mad about it though.”
While Paige Bueckers is off to a strong start to her rookie WNBA season, Fudd is returning for one final college season at UConn. She still has a year of eligibility because of injury struggles earlier in her career.
