MiLaysia Fulwiley makes waves with transfer to LSU and international triumph
MiLaysis Fulwiley grabbed attention by entering the transfer portal, leaving Dawn Staley’s program despite making a run to the national championship game, where the South Carolina Gamecocks were defeated by Geno Auriemma’s UConn Huskies.
Fulwiley made the call despite winning the reigning SEC Sixth Woman of the Year. She reportedly wants to spend the last season as a starter rather than playing limited time coming off the bench. Staley met with Fulwiley and her mom before the player arrived at the decision and subsequently transferred to the LSU Tigers. LSU head coach Kim Mulkey wasted no time praising her arrival, saying:
“I’m excited to welcome MiLaysia as the newest member of our LSU Tiger family! She’s bringing her incredible playmaking ability to Baton Rouge, standing out as one of the most electrifying talents in college basketball. Her ability to impact winning has been clear throughout her career, and we can’t wait to see her shine in purple and gold at the PMAC soon!”
After the transfer news, MiLaysia Fulwiley once again grabbed attention by entering the 2025 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Americas Conference in Chile, representing Team USA. She helped Team USA clinch the championship, playing in five of six tournament stops and averaging 4.1 points over 14 games.
