In a surprising development, Notre Dame veteran Maddy Westbeld has entered the transfer portal after five seasons with the program. Her decision comes after previously declaring for the 2025 WNBA Draft and later announcing a return for a final collegiate season.
Over her entire Notre Dame career, Westbeld delivered an average of 12.1 points with 6.7 rebounds, while in her senior year, she scored 14.4 points and pulled in 8.7 rebounds while playing in every game as a starter. The foot injury did not stop her from keeping a successful 47.2% field goal percentage.
Westbeld’s recent departure creates an expanding exodus at Notre Dame, where All-American Olivia Miles, Kate Koval, and Kylee Watson also left the team. Only four scholarship players remain after Sonia Citron and Liatu King finish their degrees.
