Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull posted an unfiltered video that showed the brutal aftermath of the collision. Hull’s face, already horrific in appearance, was swollen with visible discoloration around both eyes. BricksCenter captioned the video and made comparisons to Lexie as she looked like someone who “went 12 rounds with prime Mike Tyson.”
The 25-year-old Stanford graduate pulled no punches in addressing concerned fans about her condition, plainly speaking to them and acknowledging the matter.
“It’s not doing great. I wish this was a filter, um, but this is, this is insane. This is what I look like”, Hull said.

The collision happened in Indiana’s game against the Minnesota Lynx on Aug. 26, when Hull was elbowed in the face by $413,000 worth of Kayla McBride, which looked like it was accidental.
“I’ve been wearing these glasses all day, but the knot is like gone. I’m still a little swollen here, but the knot is gone. Instead I just have two black eyes,” Hull continued, gesturing to her face.
“So, yeah, this is me, and hopefully this goes down, but, um, yeah, thank you for asking”, she concluded.
Despite the shocking nature of her injuries, Hull maintained her humorous approach to keeping fans informed on her recovery process and mentioned that while much of the swelling had gone down.
Lexie Hull’s Resilient Season Continues Despite Facial Injuries
Hull’s injury comes at a key time as she has had a breakout season as a defensive specialist. She’s played in all 37 games for the Fever this season and has averaged 7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists while being a constant source of energy and defensive intensity.
Just three days prior to her injury, Hull had one of her best games of the season, scoring 23 points against these same Minnesota Lynx on Aug. 23, 2023, which showed not only that she could score but also that she had offensive growth in her game to match her already elite defensive skills.
Hull’s response in handling the situation is indicative of her mentality, as she was super transparent with her fans and explained the situation as it is. The star Fever player’s relationship with her fans has helped her amass over 400,000 followers on Instagram.
