Former UConn Huskies guard turned Dallas Wings rookie, Paige Bueckers has reached the halfway point of her first year in the WNBA. With this, she posted a personal mid-season update on her Instagram account through a dump post which encapsulates her past experiences as a professional on Thursday, July 17, along with a grateful caption.
This prompted a lot of individuals from the college basketball world to react in rejoice for the journey Bueckers has made from being a collegiate hoops star to now carving her own stellar path in the league. This includes the likes of her former teammates, such as KK Arnold and Aubrey Griffin, who dropped hyped-up comments on Bueckers’ upload.
“Growing through it all, halfway through, thank you God,” Bueckers captioned.

Arnold then dropped a four-word comment, saying, “Won’t HE do it,” along with a caption.

Arnold then doubled down on her support of Bueckers by reposting her former running mate’s post on her own Instagram story, which highlights a group huddle of Bueckers with her Wings team.

Griffin, who was also drafted into the WNBA in the same class as Bueckers, went with a one-word reaction.
“Pookieeeeee,” Griffin wrote.

It seems as though several of the UConn faithful are still giving Bueckers their full support despite her exhausting her years of college eligibility. Nevertheless, as one of the greatest UConn players of all time, Bueckers made a lasting impression by winning her only NCAA championship in her final year in the 2024-25 season.
Bueckers and the rest of coach Geno Auriemma’s squad accomplished this by defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks, coached by Dawn Staley, by 23 points, 82-59, in this year’s national championship game. In the victory, Bueckers registered 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks in 38 minutes of action.
For now, Bueckers and coach Chris Koclanes’ Wings have uncorked a 6-17 overall record thus far, sitting as the No. 7 seed in the West, with the 23-year-old averaging 18.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.7 steals a game.

On Wednesday, July 16, the UConn Huskies social media team posted that several former and current Huskies, such as KK Arnold and Aubrey Griffin, attended this year’s iteration of the annual ESPY Awards, held on the same day in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, however, Bueckers was not in attendance with members of her alma mater, presumably since she had a game against the Las Vegas Aces on the same day.
