3×3 basketball is a completely different experience from the traditional 5×5 game, with one of the game’s biggest tournaments, the 2025 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Americas Conference, happening from July 21-27 in Punta Arenas, Chile. MiLaysia Fulwiley will be anchoring USA Basketball in the women’s tournament, and LSU is fully supporting her in social media.

Fulwiley is fresh off her transfer from South Carolina to LSU, with the newest Tigers guard already acclimating herself with her new teammates over at Baton Rouge. This led to LSU assistant coach Gary Redus to remind her that her work is not yet done.
“More work to do BIG BUTTA @laywitdabutter,” Gary Redus told Fulwiley.
The USA Basketball squad consists of five current NCAA Division I athletes, being Taylor Bigby, Joyce Edwards, MiLaysia Fulwiley, Zee Spearman and Rachel Ullstrom. Former Kansas State star Serena Sundell, who has now graduated from college, is the sixth member of the team. Along with Joyce Edwards, Fulwiley will be one of the biggest names in the squad.
The five NCAA stars have experience in 3×3 basketball, with Bigby, Edwards, Fulwiley, Spearman and Ullstrom playing in the 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals in Mesa, Arizona, though in different teams. Fulwiley and Spearman played for Team Chaos and won the entire tournament, with Fulwiley winning MVP honors.
As for Joyce Edwards, she won a gold medal last month during the 2025 Women’s AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile, being the most decorated player in international competition among the six players. She also won gold at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup and 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup. This will be the international debut for the others.
As for how well the Americans did, they won Stop 1, Stop 2 and Stop 3 so far and will be heading as favorites to win Stop 4.
MiLaysia Fulwiley’s Pivotal in USA Basketball Stop 3 Win vs. Chile
Stop 3, which is the third tournament of the event, had the United States reach the final for a third day in a row, this time taking on host country Chile. The Americans started out slow before erupting to a 9-1 run against the hosts.
Chile then had a big comeback and were within striking distance for an upset, as the score was just 14-12 with only 1:56 left. However, Milaysia Fulwiley was clutch as she made a tough left-handed layup and drew contact, getting the and-one and sinking her free throw.
The Americans barely survived, but it was Joyce Edwards who put the game away in the closing seconds, with Team USA escaping with the gold 18-15.
