Kim Mulkey Takes a Jab at Dawn Staley As LSU HC Looks Forward to Coach Ex-South Carolina Player

Kim Mulkey and Dawn Staley are two of the most celebrated coaches in women’s college basketball. Both legends have a strong hold on their respective teams. South Carolina and LSU are among the most competitive teams in college basketball.

Mulkey is known for her directness in her game as well as in her speech. Her passion and intensity are second to none. But if there is someone who can match that, it’s Staley. Staley is dedicated to the game of basketball and South Carolina. Whenever the two teams go head-to-head, it is always a contest to watch.

In a recent interview, Kim Mulkey took a jab at Dawn Staley’s South Carolina. Former South Carolina star MiLaysia Fulwiley joined LSU. Addressing how much she appreciates the new addition, Mulkey revealed what it means to have her with the Tigers.

“She’s beaten me too many times for me not to have taken her into this team, this program,” Mulkey chuckled and said. “I mean, she’s just a big shot, big steal, spectacular move. I’m gonna challenge her to learn the point guard position. But I’m not gonna take away her ability to play the off guard either. So a lot of that will depend on how quickly she catches on to what we need her to do as a point guard. And a lot of that will depend on Jada’s development.”

“A lot of that’ll depend on Divine’s development. Those guys all handle the ball for us. But she’s fitting in. Well, I mean, ballers wanna play with ballers, and she’s gonna be fun to watch. I think the fans, they already know how good she is and all the spectacular things she does on the floor, and now the LSU fans get to cheer for her instead of booing her,” she added.

MiLaysia had a bit of a falling out with Dawn Staley. She did not fit in Staley’s plans, and Mulkey has made space for her at LSU.

Fans React to Kim Mulkey’s Words About MiLaysia Fulwiley

Fans online agreed with Mulkey’s assessment of MiLaysia Fulwiley and shared their reactions.

“She’s good, no doubt. But lacked discipline, so she took the route ‘out.’ At times, got lost on defense. Wish her the best, though,” one fan commented.

“I’m a fan of Malaysia…and I know she’s gonna be great.. however, Dawn creates legends…. Not just ballers,” one fan commented.

“They not beating SC so it’s all good”, another fan claimed.

“Also tried to make HVL a point guard. I hope it works out better for Lay!” another remembered.

“Can’t wait for South Carolina to get this W”, another fan said.

“Y’all disrespect Kim like she doesn’t have ships?? Also no one is saying SC doesn’t have ballers, Kim routinely gives them credit. But LSU has ballers too, and there’s a reason why she didn’t stay there. Dawn looked like she didn’t know what to do with her half the time. And that’s not a knock- just because you are a great coach doesn’t mean you’ll be a great coach for everyone,” another fan explained MiLaysia Fulwiley’s situation.
