Following a poor finish to the 2024-25 basketball season, Kentucky has made its first move in the offseason. The transfer portal for women’s basketball officially opened yesterday, and the Wildcats had their first player enter their name into it, and it’s a surprising one.

Clara Silva Enters Transfer Portal
On3’s Talia Goodman reported Tuesday morning that 6-foot-7 center Clara Silva entered her name into the transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag.

Silva, a Portugal native, played in all 31 games for the Wildcats this season, averaging four points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 12.5 minutes on 56.5 percent shooting.
The “do not contact” tag in the transfer portal indicates that Silva has determined her next program and does not want to be approached by other schools. This method is prevalent among players with predetermined transfer destinations.
Despite exhibiting potential as a rim defender and efficient inside scorer, her position in the offense was restricted. With her decision to transfer, she could be looking for a school that can assist her in emerging as a more powerful post player.
Silva is one of three Kentucky women’s basketball players to enter the transfer portal following the season’s finish. Junior guard Saniah Tyler and freshman guard Tanah Becker have also announced their plans to transfer.
These transfers indicate potential roster transformations for the Wildcats as head coach Kenny Brooks prepares for the upcoming season.

While the Wildcats finished the season 23-8 with an 11-5 mark in SEC play and an NCAA Tournament appearance, Kentucky had an emotional one-point victory in the first round against No. 13 seed Liberty and eventually fell in the second round to a surging No. 5 seed Kansas State.
While Silva does carry a “Do Not Contact” tag, indicating she already has her next destination picked, it is unclear where she’ll play her next season of college ball at the time of publication.
