The most popular couple in the WNBA is Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, though there is one slight problem with that as Fudd is still in college, playing for UConn, which means that their reunion for next year is far from guaranteed. The best way to get Fudd and keep Bueckers happy with her girlfriend may just be the NBA draft.
The teams with the worst records get higher chances of getting the No. 1 pick, and there are speculations that the Dallas Wings may be tanking their games. Women’s soccer legend and 2012 London Olympic gold medalist Kelley O’Hara discussed during her “Just Women’s Sports” podcast the possibility of Dallas tanking to get Azzi Fudd and get a higher chance of getting the No. 1 pick again.
When the topic of the Dallas Wings was brought up, O’Hara noted that their season was essentially over and that Paige Bueckers would not be enough to carry the season. There is hope for next year, though, as they may get the No. 1 pick and use it on Fudd.
“Yeah. Like Dallas, it’s not in the stars,” O’Hara told her co-hosts. “That’s not even a possibility at this point. They, I don’t even think they could make the playoffs if they wanted to.” (28:15)
“They are tossing out this season for the purpose of getting exactly who they want next season by being last,” she added. “You know what, to reunite our favorite couple… a little Paige and Azzi, I mean, yeah, if that’s actually what they’re doing. If you’re Paige, you’re like, ‘Yay,’ but also, you just have to kind of chill the rest of the season. ‘Let me get rookie of the year while I’m here.’ And then my baby, my sugar baby’s coming.”
The Wings, while they have had their moments in 2025, have struggled throughout, even when Bueckers was healthy. Getting that top pick again may change things, from getting projected No. 1 Lauren Betts to Azzi Fudd.
Kelly O’Hara’s Co-host Believes Dallas Will Choose Azzi Fudd Over Lauren Betts
The question now is, if the Wings get the No. 1 pick, will they choose the dominant center, Lauren Betts, or Azzi Fudd? Podcast co-host BJ Beckworth believes they will try and keep their star happy and get her girlfriend, Azzi Fudd.
“Have you heard of Family Matters? They’re choosing Azzi,” he said. “And I want Flau’jae to Chicago.”
Lauren Betts is so far the projected No. 1 pick for next year, though the two worst teams in Chicago and Dallas may not want her. The Sky does not need another center while Dallas may be wanting Fudd more, as picking any other player might be seen as a betrayal of their star.
