VIDEO: Ex UConn Star Paige Bueckers Gives Eyebrow Raise to Chris Koclanes’ Play Call

Former UConn star Paige Bueckers had the opportunity to play under one of the best coaches in the history of women’s college basketball, Geno Auriemma. However, now that she is in the WNBA and on the Dallas Wings, Chris Koclanes is her new head coach. On Friday, the team lost 86-76 to the Golden State Valkyries.

With 59 seconds left on the clock, and the Wings down 82-76, Koclanes brought his team over to the bench to draw up a play. Bueckers was seen raising eyebrows in the moment, as she continued to make sense of the next steps. Soon after, she gazed at the coach scratching her ear, as the guide was spotted explaining the play

This moment was caught on camera and went viral as Paige Bueckers had an interesting reaction to the play as well as the coach as she sat on the sidelines ready to pounce at the opponents once again.

In reality, the moment came just minutes after Bueckers had cut the deficit to three with a clutch three-point play around the two-minute mark. She never got another shot.

Nevertheless, the play did not end up working out as the Wings did not score for the rest of the game.

Paige Bueckers Continues To Perform Well Despite the Dallas Wings’ Poor Record

With their loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Friday, the Dallas Wings have now lost five of their last six games. As of late, they have fallen to a record of 7-18 on the season. Despite the loss, Bueckers has continued to display her skills, putting up consistent numbers.

In the game, Bueckers put up 17 points, one rebound, six assists and four steals. Bueckers leads the team in points, assists and steals.

Fans quickly took to social media to blast the decision, wondering why Koclanes froze out one of the league’s most dynamic scorers in the game’s most critical stretch.

While the clip of Bueckers reacting to Koclanes’ play went viral, she has not spoken against him publicly. This is only his first season as a head coach in the WNBA. Previously, he was an assistant coach at USC.
