Flau’jae Johnson wasn’t quite herself in the LSU Tigers’ recent loss against Vanderbilt. As the Tigers suffered with turnovers, Johnson ended up scoring no points throughout her 19 minutes on the floor. With this loss, the LSU Tigers are 0-2 in the SEC, a first time in Kim Mulkey’s era. Even Mulkey ripped her squad by calling them “not tough enough” after these brutal SEC losses.
An analyst on Instagram called @highlightreelasmr highlighted a stark reality facing Johnson’s performance and why she was unfairly sidelined in Team USA during the summer. He reveals that her minutes were taken by Mikaela Blakes, the tournament MVP. The analyst mocks the previous outrage over Johnson’s playing time and contrasts all the past hype with her current results.
He calls Johnson’s performance a ‘disasterclass’ after her scoreless performance against Vanderbilt. Demanding an apology from her supporters. The analyst exclaimed,
“And then you run into Mikaela Blakes mid-season and you don’t score a f*cking point? No, I want my apology.” He dismisses LSU’s #5 spot as a ‘bulls**t ranking.'”
Looking forward, the analyst was devoid of any hope against LSU facing No.2 Texas. Claiming he predicted this downfall when LSU finally played a team of merit, he asks point-blank, “Do you think they have a shot in hell?” He concludes that the Vanderbilt loss exposed LSU’s flaws, proving they shouldn’t even be ranked in the top 10 anymore.
LSU Alongside Maryland Broke a 27-Year-Old Record
This week was rather a chaotic start to the new year. Eight teams with a 10-0 or better record suffered their first losses within just seven days. This was a collapse not seen in the last 27 years. This mass exodus from the ranks of the unbeaten shows the most significant shakeup in nearly three decades. It serves as a brutal reminder that no ranking is safe when conference play intensifies, leaving no margin for error.
The carnage also hit Flau’jae Johnson’s LSU Tigers, who saw their perfect season vanish in back-to-back losses. Alongside Iowa State and six other schools like Maryland and TCU, these teams witnessed their streaks shatter, clearing the path for a massive AP Top 25 realignment. Only a few schools, like UConn and Texas, remain strong. The road to the Final Four has now become more dangerous than ever.
