Flau’jae Johnson Shares Heartfelt Reaction to NWSL Star Sofia Cook’s Iconic Shoutout

    NWSL star Sofia Cook seems to be an admirer of LSU’s guard Flau’jae Johnson. In a recent video that has gone viral on Instagram, the player from Gotham FC is asked which black icon she would love to have dinner with.

    Her answer was simple: Flau’jae Johnson. She also provided her reasoning for selecting the Lady Tigers star:

    “And I love Flau’jae too, because she could ball and she could rap”

    Johnson has reposted the video to her Instagram story, and she added the following commentary:

    “Yeah I gotta slide to a game”

    Besides being known as a basketball star for the LSU Lady Tigers, Johnson also has a burgeoning music career as a rapper. She has a record deal with Roc Nation and has so far released three albums over the last three years.

    Sofia Cook is on her first season at the professional level, and has so far played in five games for Gotham FC in the NWSL. Before joining the team in January of this year, Cook played between 2022 and 2024 for the UCLA Bruins at the NCAA level. In her freshman year, the Bruins won the NCAA women’s soccer championship. She was also a Pac-12 All-Freshman selection.

    In her second season she helped the school clinch the Pac-12 championship, while earning Second Team All-Pac-12 honors. In her final season, UCLA clinched its first women’s soccer Big Ten tournament and she won First Team All-Big Ten honors.

    Flau’jae Johnson announces her first headline concert

    Taking advantage of the offseason, Flau’jae Johnson announced her first headline concert. The event will take place in Atlanta on July 30. The venue will be Georgia at Aisle. She announced it on her Instagram account this Wednesday through an story, stating:

    “Alright, my people. Look, y’all. I will be headlining my first ever show in Atlanta, Georgia at Aisle 5 on July 30.”

    “Get your tickets. This Friday, June 20 at 10 a.m. Atlanta, Georgia—be there or be square.”

    Johnson has appeared on TV shows “The Rap Game” and on “America’s Got Talent”. Her latest album, “Flau & B”, came out just last February.

    On the sporting side of things, Flau’jae Johnson is coming into her fourth and last college basketball season. Her collegiate career has already been a success, winning the NCAA championship in 2023. In personal accolades, she won the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2023 and has been named a Third Team All-American (2025), a First Team All-SEC (2025), a Second Team All-SEC (2024) and an SEC All-Freshman (2023).
