America was recently shocked when right-wing political activist and president Donald Trump’s close friend Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 10th. Kirk co-founded the conservative student organization Turning Point USA in 2012. There was a lot of conflicting opinions around and after Kirk’s death. Governor Jeff Landry announced that LSU would be honoring the legacy of Charlie Kirk by placing a statue of him on campus. He captioned his post, “There is no better warrior for free speech than Charlie Kirk, and we must continue his legacy on every campus in America.”
He also shared how over 1500 people gathered to listen to ‘Turning Point’. He sent a message to the LSU board to find a spot to put a statue for Charlie Kirk.
Flau’jae Johnson expressed her confusion to the announcement with “????”. A fan then replied to LSU star’s post, “I’m a Kirk fan, but this would be stupid. Landry needs to stay out of LSU business.”
