LSU Lady Tigers close to getting hold of a five-star recruit out of Texas

The LSU Lady Tigers seem close to getting a commitment from five-star recruit Jemini Mitchell, who’s the 14th best recruit in the class of 2027, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Mitchell, who’s also the best prospect in Texas, plays as a small forward and stands at six feet and one inch.

The most surprising thing about this recruitment process so far is that, according to the prospect herself, she has never spoken with Kim Mulkey. According to her, the process was mainly handled by coach Gary Redus.

“I love Coach Gary [Redus],” Mitchell said in an interview with Rivals. “I’m really close with him. One of my friends, Bella, goes to that school, so, I mean just kind of connecting through there.”

“Coach [Kim] Mulkey, I’ve never really spoken to her on the phone, but all of the assistant coaches just show a lot of love,” she added.

LSU is currently competing with Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas, Duke, and Texas A&M to secure the services of Mitchell. Recently, the Lady Tigers also made an offer to Madeline Mignery, another small forward who is considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports and who is considered the seventh-best small forward in the class of 2027.
