The young fan named Kayden posted on his Instagram and begged for Oregon to send him some gear. Within that video, he prayed and even said, “I’m a duck, quack quack.” Senior guard Deja Kelly, who transferred to Oregon from North Carolina, saw this video.

Deja Kelly responded by saying, “Hi Kayden! Of course we gotta have you reppin! Lmk where I can send some gear! Sco Ducks 💚”

Over the next few weeks, Kayden received a Deja Kelly jersey, two Oregon Ducks sweatshirts, and two shirts. He was overjoyed with the merch and responded to Deja on Instagram by saying, “🙏🏾 Thank you @dejakelly and management team. I’m beyond grateful for your kindness!”

Kelly has led the Ducks in scoring this season, averaging over 11 points per game. This is down from the 16 points per game she has put up each of the prior three seasons. The senior guard leads the Ducks in assists and minutes per game. She transferred from North Carolina, where she played the first 4 years of her collegiate career.

The star guard has aspirations to be in the WNBA and to be a broadcaster, which was part of the reason she transferred to Oregon. The transfer gave her more opportunities to incorporate her broadcasting career, which is something that playing basketball has helped her with.

Kelly spoke with For The Win and told them, “I know the game, so I know how to give good analysis. I love being in front of the camera as well.”
