Alabama A&M Bulldogs guard and the youngest daughter of NFL legend Deion Sanders, Shelomi, once broke her silence regarding her junior year transfer. In a video posted on Youtube by TS4T Sports Media on August of 2024, the livestream of Shelomi Sanders explaining her transfer portal move was shown on social media.
In the clip, Sanders was having a conversation in which she dived deep at the exact moment that she realized she wanted to step away from the Colorado Buffaloes, whom she spent her second season with. The Buffaloes also notably have her father, Deion, as their football head coach as well as having her older brother, Shedeur, as a starting quarterback at that time she was playing for the women’s basketball program.
“For me, I would say, yeah, it was last year like during the beginning where I just came home sad every day. Yeah, it was last year like I was just sad mad like every day, bro. That and when I was at Jackson like, if I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would have quit. Like, I was just at the point it’s like bro, it’s not even like, I don’t even feel like doing this no more, and it’s just so crazy,” Shelomi Sanders shared. (0:47)
In her first year with coach Dawn Thornton’s Bulldogs, Shelomi Sanders tallied around 1.2 points and 0.4 rebounds in around 3.9 minutes in 26 games logged. She helped Alabama A&M finish the 2024-25 season with an overall record of 21-11 (14-4, SWAC) and make it all the way to the first round of the Women’s NIT.
Shelomi Sanders Details Why Exactly She Left Colorado And Transferred To Alabama A&M The Year After
Later on with her livestream back in August of 2024, Shelomi Sanders gave the real reasoning as to why she left coach JR Payne’s Colorado Buffaloes after spending her sophomore year there and transfer to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs for her third season. Deion Sanders’ daughter then admitted that the playing environment and team culture she was seeking was not aligned with that of the Buffaloes.
“Just, and I don’t want to say nothing too bad, so I’m going to make a little clip. It just wasn’t good energy, wasn’t good vibes, wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player and a young lady and stuff. So, it was just like, it was just bad. But, I’m good now,” Shelomi Sanders explained. (1:27)
Shelomi Sanders now enters the 2025-26 college basketball season for her senior campaign, still with the Bulldogs. In her three years of collegiate hoops so far, the 21-year-old has averaged 1.1 points and 0.4 rebounds in around 3.6 minutes in 33 games played.
