South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley was all smiles on social media after her school’s football team took a big lead on its opponent recently. On Saturday, Nov. 15, the Gamecocks football program, coached by Shane Beamer, took on coach Mike Elko’s Texas A&M Aggies for their Week 12 matchup of the 2025 college football season in away territory, Kyle Stadium in College Station, Texas.
At halftime of the hotly contested matchup, the Gamecocks were dominating the Aggies with a 30-3 lead, stunning the entire Texas A&M crowd. With this, Staley shared on her X/Twitter account that she was delighted upon finding out the score. She also included words of support to hype up the Gamecocks football team.
Just finished shootaround and came back to @GamecockFB up 30-10!! Let’s freaking goooooo! Keep our spur on them!

It seems as though Staley was talking about her Gamecocks basketball squad, which was also warming up for a game on the same day she was tuned in to the Gamecocks football team’s matchup. This is because Staley and her 2025-26 South Carolina roster are currently facing coach Lindsay Gottlieb’s USC Trojans in away territory, the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
This is Staley and company’s first ranked opponent of the season, through which they are looking to get a win to pad their current undefeated record of 3-0 in their non-conference schedule this year. While she supports the Gamecocks football squad in their pursuit of success this season, Staley and her Gamecocks team are looking to win their third national title in the last five years in the campaign, as they won it all in 2022 and 2024.

The South Carolina Gamecocks CFB Team Lost By A Mere Point To The Texas A&M Aggies
Unfortunately for Dawn Staley and the rest of the South Carolina Gamecocks faithful, their college football team lost to the Texas A&M Aggies by one point, 31-30, despite holding the previous sizeable advantage. This is because the Gamecocks were unable to finish strong in the game, as they were held scoreless through the second half, with the Aggies going on a 28-0 run.
South Carolina now possesses a 3-7 overall record (1-7 SEC) in the season. They will face the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers next for their Week 13 matchup before their final regular-season game of the year.
