The South Carolina Gamecocks, coached by Dawn Staley, just received a big boost for their 2026-27 season with their latest recruitment pickup. On Monday, Nov. 10, Mater Dei forward Kaeli Wynn announced her commitment to play for coach Staley’s program through a joint post on Instagram with @sportscenternext. Wynn will conclude her high school hoops tenure and enter collegiate basketball next year.
According to 247Sports, Wynn is ranked as a five-star recruit and is listed as the No. 39 player in her high school class of 2026. Primarily a power forward, Wynn has chosen South Carolina over Stanford as her collegiate hoops home, given that she was seriously pursued by both programs. Nevertheless, the young stalwart plans to suit up for the Gamecocks when her time comes.
“Breaking: Kaeli Wynn, the No. 17 ranked player in the SC Next Top 100 for the Class of 2026, has committed to South Carolina, she told ESPN,” @sportscenternext on Instagram captioned.

For now, Wynn will play out her senior stint in high school with Mater Dei in the 2025-26 season. On the other hand, Staley and the Gamecocks are looking to win their third NCAA title in the last five years. They lost the NCAA championship game last season and currently have a record of 2-0 in their non-conference schedule, and are set to face the Clemson Tigers on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at home.

Kaeli Wynn Reveals Why She Chose To Commit To The South Carolina Gamecocks
In an interview with writer Shane Laflin, published on ESPN, Kaeli Wynn was asked why she chose to commit to the South Carolina Gamecocks. For the Santa Ana, California, native, it boils down to the kind of leadership and mentorship she can get from Dawn Staley, as well as the proven national championship-winning culture that the program possesses.
“I chose South Carolina because of Coach Staley’s leadership, the program’s championship culture and the energy of Gamecock Nation that made Columbia feel like home. I’m looking forward to competing at the highest level and helping the Gamecocks win more SEC and national championships,” Wynn was quoted as saying.
The Gamecocks finished the 2024-25 campaign with a 35-4 overall record (15-1 SEC) en route to the national championship game as the defending national champions.
