Weeks After Stellar Performance With Dawn Staley, Kim Mulkey In Attendance, 5-Star Prospect Earns Major EYBL Honors

The Nike EYBL circuit serves as hallowed grounds for high school basketball as scouts and coaches from all over the country flock to watch the best high school stars play. This also lets stars like five-star point guard Autumn Fleary from Sidwell Friends High School to showcase their skills. Fleary, who plays for Team Takeover at Nike EYBL, was so good that she was even named into the 17U All-Tournament Team.

She joins fellow 17U standouts Qadence Samuels, Zoe Osby, Aaliah Spaight, and Amalia Holguin in that 17U All-EYBL First Team.

This honor was bestowed just a few weeks after she impressed many with her performance for Team Takeover against the Tennessee Flight, with both South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley and LSU head coach Kim Mulkey in attendance. She dropped 21 points in the contest, which the team won.

The various AAU circuits, which include Nike EYBL and Adidas 3SSB are held during the NCAA off-season, which means that colleges can send their coaches to scout out new talent during this time. Getting the eye of legendary coaches like Kim Mulkey and Dawn Staley may lead to some D1 offers.

As for Autumn Fleary, she is a five-star, ranked No. 10 overall from the Class of 2026 by 247Sports and also the No. 2 point guard and the No. 1 player in DC. 247Sports’ Brandon Clay says she plays at an “elite level” and was a standout for Team Takeover during this year’s Nike EYBL circuit.

Autumn Fleary May Be Snubbing Kim Mulkey and Dawn Staley for College

As for what school Autumn Fleary might end up in, Dawn Staley’s North Carolina is now out of contention as her four remaining schools are North Carolina, Duke, UCLA, and LSU. Despite this, it is likely that she may be snubbing Kim Mulkey and LSU in the end as well.

North Carolina appears to be the favorite to recruit Autumn Fleary, with head coach Courtney Banghart reportedly leaving a strong impression on the five-star point guard when she officially visited Chapel Hill last June. This was also her final official visit to any of her four remaining schools.

Despite being underdogs, Mulkey and LSU are continuing to push for Fleary and convince her to go to Baton Rouge instead. In the end, Fleary still has a little under a year to make her decision, and whatever school she decides to go to, she is expected to make a big impact.
