“We Want More!”: Dawn Staley Left Fired Up As Cameron Brink’s LA Sparks Secure Thrilling Win Over Seattle

The Seattle Storm v. LA Sparks was arguably the best game of the season so far. It was also the first game of the season that went into double overtime. In the end, Cameron Brink’s Sparks secured a two-point win. Regardless of the result, WNBA legend and South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley thoroughly enjoyed the matchup.

Staley was constantly putting up her reactions to the game on X. She posted several times throughout the game. When the game went into double overtime, she wrote:

We want more! We want more! Double OT for us! Let’s goooooo WBB!!! @WNBA

Other than showing her excitement, Staley was also asking her followers which team they were supporting. She wrote:

“We deserve these extra minutes in this game!  Who yall got @seattlestorm or @LASparks?”

When the game concluded after the second overtime, Staley thanked both teams for their brilliant performances. She wrote:

“Thank you @LASparks!  Thank you @seattlestorm!  Thank you @WNBA!”

It was clear from her posts, Staley wasn’t favoring one team over the other. As one of the pioneers of women’s basketball, she was happy to see two teams giving their all on the floor for a great experience.

Staley was impressed by the offensive prowess shown by both teams. What made her experience better was that both teams played great defense. In a post, Staley praised the teams’ overall performance on both ends of the floor. She wrote:

“DAYUUUUMMMM!!  Buckets buckets buckets!!  Over great defense too!!  Let’s see what this possession brings us!!  🥰🥰🥰”

Both teams were brilliant last night at the Climate Pledge Arena. And even though the home team lost, they earned the respect of hoop fans.

The Storm and the Sparks put up a great fight

The game going into double OT alone is enough to claim that it was a performance to remember. Nneka Ogwumike dropped 37 points against the Sparks, only one short of her career-best performance. She also had 12 rebounds and four assists with only one turnover.

Three other players from the Storm scored in double digits. Ezi Magbegor had the best overall performance on the team with nine points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and five blocks.

Sparks, on the other hand, were a more balanced team. Four of their starters scored 21 points or more, with Rickea Jackson leading the team with 27 points. Dearica Hamby had a brilliant double-double performance, dropping 21 points with 13 rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block.

Cameron Brink, coming off the bench, had seven points, four rebounds, two steals, and three blocks. The Sparks had 18 turnovers compared to the Storm’s 12, but still managed to outscore them 9-7 in the second overtime to take the W.
