Dawn Staley Praises Chloe Kitts for Rallying South Carolina to Ole Miss Win, First Triple-Double Since Aliyah Boston

South Carolina Gamecocks Women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley has praised the performance of Chloe Kitts in the win over Ole Miss on Feb. 28, 2025.

The Gamecocks improved to 26-3 this season following a 75-59 win over the Rebels, with Kitts having a historical performance.

Kitts joined a special group that has Aliyah Boston, and that made Staley happy following the win.

Dawn Staley Credits Chloe Kitts for South Carolina’s Win Over Ole Miss

Kitts made history as she became the first South Carolina player to record a triple-double since Boston. The 6-foot-2 forward dropped an impressive 16 points, 10 assists, and 13 rebounds in 34 minutes of game time.

While Kitts did not score the most points for the Gamecocks on the day, Staley believes her performance led them to victory.

“It was really the hard way — it was playmaking, it was determination, it was will, it was Chloe Kitts. Chloe Kitts, she has this in her, and she couldn’t be playing her best basketball at the right time, Dawley told ESPN after the game.

“I think we are all moving towards like playing everybody at the right time, so hopefully we can get hot, we can take care of home on Sunday and see where we end up,” Staley added.

While the scoreline suggested that it was a fairly comfortable game for the Gamecocks, it was far from that. It was not until the fourth quarter that Dawley’s team pulled away from the Rebels.

Sania Feagin led the scoring with 22 points while adding six rebounds. Aside from Feagin and Kitts, Joyce Edwards was the other player who reached double digits with 10 points.
