“Grow Up” – Colin Cowherd Slams Kelsey Plum for Criticizing Caitlin Clark at WNBA All-Star Weekend

Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum recently called out Caitlin Clark and her All-Star Team. At the post-game presser of the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, Plum was asked about the Equal Pay Movement that the All-Stars participated in during warmups of the annual game. Plum said no one from Team Clark was present for the players’ meeting.

This led many from the sports world to criticize Plum, including New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, who was seated right beside her when she said it. On Monday, July 21, sports analyst Colin Cowherd slammed Plum on “The Herd” podcast, as he spoke about Clark’s impact on the WNBA.

“ If you are in a band and you are staying at the Motel 6, and you add a band member, and now you’re at The Ritz-Carlton, keep your issues to yourself, alright? You went from a Motel 6 in a sketchy part of town to about four seasons in the shopping district. Stop talking. I don’t mind the t-shirts. I think you have leverage. I think you deserve more than 9%. You know, but it’s just misstep after misstep,” Cowherd said (1:55).

“It’s time to grow up, girls, like fast, like this is the player that got you off the airline that was bright yellow, right? She got you an upgrade to a better hotel as a band member,” he added.

Clark now looks to recover as soon as possible from her reaggravated groin injury she suffered during Indiana Fever’s 85-77 win against the Connecticut Sun on July 15.

Plum is currently in her eighth season in the league, and is now with coach Lynne Roberts’ Sparks, who have an 8-14 record thus far.

Colin Cowherd Claims This Year will be the Least Profitable for the WNBA Due to Caitlin Clark’s Injury

On the same episode of “The Herd” podcast, Colin Cowherd claimed that the WNBA will make money with the rise of world-class stars like Caitlin Clark, as opposed to the millions that the league has lost in its history. Cowherd added that this year could be the least profitable due to Clark’s injury-ridiculed season.

“ A lot of people are saying, ‘Hey man, this league has never made money.’ It’s an investment. It’s now gonna make money. And by the way, this is the least profitable, arguably, it’ll be over the next 10 years. It’s only gonna get more profitable as women’s basketball gets better, as the Caitlyn Clark momentum train gets bigger,” Cowherd said (2:45).

Clark is currently in her sophomore year in the WNBA with coach Stephanie White’s Indiana Fever, where they have uncorked a 12-11 record thus far in the East.
