With the NCAA women’s basketball transfer portal deadline of April 22 approaching, Pepperdine freshman guard Chloe Sotell has drawn widespread attention. The 6′ guard from Stamford, Connecticut, entered the portal following a strong debut season in Malibu.
Sotell posted averages of 10.6 points, three rebounds, and three assists while shooting 34.3% from the field, per ESPN Stats.
Her breakout moment came in a game against Loyola Marymount, where she poured in 22 points and sank six shots from beyond the arc—ranking third in program history for most three-pointers in a single contest, according to BVM Sports.
The performance earned her West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week honors and a spot on the WCC All-Freshman team.

Gonzaga Bulldogs
A consistent force in the WCC, Gonzaga offers a fast-paced system and proven guard development. Bree Salenbien and Claire O’Connor have also exited (Slipper Still Fits), opening up the backcourt. Sotell’s WCC experience and offensive production, including a six-three-pointer performance, make her a strong system fit.
UCLA Bruins
UCLA is fresh off a 34–3 campaign and Final Four run but loses six guards, including key scorers. With a team three-point percentage of 33.5%, the Bruins could benefit from Sotell’s 31.3% shooting from deep. Head coach Cori Close’s track record in player development adds to the appeal.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Wake Forest is undergoing roster reconstruction and recently added Mary Carter and Raven Preston, both versatile scorers. Coach Megan Gebbia is clearly prioritizing offensive firepower. Sotell’s 6-foot frame and consistent scoring make her an ideal candidate to contribute in the ACC.
Indiana Hoosiers
Indiana faces backcourt attrition following the departures of Chloe Moore-McNeil, Sydney Parrish, and Yarden Garzon. Despite the arrivals of Phoenix Stotijn and Chloe Spreen, there remains a need for additional guard depth. Sotell’s offensive efficiency and 31.3% clip from three could help fill the void.

Coach Teri Moren values player development and positional fit, making this a logical destination.
BYU Cougars
BYU is retooling after losing Kailey Woolston (13.3 PPG, 46.6% 3PT) and Amari Whiting amid a coaching change (Deseret News, KSL). Sotell’s 10.6 points and 3.0 assists per game could plug the gap and thrive in BYU’s uptempo offense.
