Fiasco Around Caitlin Clark’s Season Ending Injury Puts Indiana Fever in ‘Questionable’ Position as per Women’s Basketball Analyst

Former Iowa Hawkeyes star and current Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is out for the season with a groin injury. Women’s college basketball analyst Rachel DeMita weighed in on the situation in her latest YouTube video posted on Saturday, Sept. 6, as she shared her thoughts on the impact of Clark’s injury on the Fever and the league as a whole.

DeMita pointed out that there have been a lot of discussions lately on social media by the Fever faithful regarding Clark’s injury. A lot of individuals from the women’s hoops landscape believe there is more than what has been reported regarding Clark’s setback.

“The Fever fan base has lost so much trust in the Fever organization this year, and not only from the injury reporting, but it stems from the injury reporting. There’s been some very, very weird injury reports this season, and the math isn’t mathing. I’ve also been one to defend the organization to a certain extent because you don’t always want to give away too much information. I’ve placed a lot of the blame on the reporters,” DeMita said (2:30).

DeMita then gave her own conclusion of what coach Stephanie White should tell the basketball world regarding Clark’s injury.

“I’m like, ‘How are the reporters not able to get to the bottom of this and at least give us something, something that feels like the truth?’ From Caitlin’s note that she put out, I almost wonder if Caitlin was the one who was really trying and the coaching staff and the front office were kind of letting her do that. And, maybe, coach Steph White is taking all this heat but that’s what she had to say,” DeMita explained.

“Maybe the front office told coach White, ‘You can’t give anything,’ and coach Steph White has been the only one answering questions on Caitlin’s injury,” she added.

The Fever have uncorked a 23-20 overall record so far in the season, good for the third seed in the Eastern Conference. They will play their final game of the regular season on Wednesday, Sept. 10, against the Minnesota Lynx on their home floor, the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Afterwards, coach White and company will aim for a deep postseason run without their second-year superstar.
