Several commenters also sent their condolences, thoughts and prayers for the Butler assistant coach and his family during this trying time for them.

“Sending you love and prayers❤️🙌,” said another person.
Connor McCaffery used to play guard for the Iowa Hawkeyes, which was also Caitlin Clark’s team. The two met at the school and have been together for over two years now, with Clark being one of the most popular players in the WNBA today, while McCaffery is now pursuing coaching now that his playing career is done.
He is the son of former Iowa head coach and current Penn State head coach Fran McCaffery, which means that he has plenty to live up to in his family. He played in 166 games for the Hawkeyes, winning 111 of them.
Caitlin Clark Previously Gifted the Butler Bulldogs MBB Team Nike Kobe 5 Protros
Caitlin Clark has been tied with Nike for years now, and in a generous gesture for her boyfriend, Butler assistant coach Connor McCaffery, she gifted his entire team some sneakers, the Nike Kobe 5 Protros. It was McCaffery who reportedly helped in facilitating this generous giveaway, which was done in partnership with Nike.
Butler is in Indiana, where Caitlin Clark plays. This is just part of the WNBA superstar integrating herself with the city her team is in. As she did this, it was McCaffery who reportedly helped in gathering the shoe sizes of the players. However, he emphasized that it was Caitlin Clark who initiated the giveaway and handled the logistics.
McCaffrey noted that his girlfriend wanted his team to do well, and she also wants to see the teams in Indianapolis do well too. As for the shoes, they were reportedly in a colorway that featured the Indiana Fever red and white, which is a nod to her embracing the community in Indianapolis.
