Paige Bueckers is the most recent UConn legend to make it on the big stage. After finally fulfilling her dream of winning the NCAA title, the UConn star got drafted as the No. 1 pick in the WNBA.
Geno Auriemma’s student showed just how well he had coached her, as Bueckers won WNBA Rookie of the Year and had a tremendous season. Despite her departure, Auriemma has some of the most talented college hoopers at his disposal like Azzi Fudd, Sarah Strong, Kayleigh Heckel and more.
Geno Auriemma is often known for his serious demeanour and carries a stern personality with a splash of sense of humor which is often blunt, straightforward and witty. One thing every UConn player has admitted is that they were intimidated by Coach Auriemma before they first met him.
He has not always shown his softer side in public. There have been accusations of him treating Azzi Fudd ‘as his favorite’ but other than that a sweet, goofy Geno Auriemma is a rare occurrence. However, we had that rare sighting.

UConn players KK Arnold and Sarah Strong were stretching on bars in the air when Geno Auriemma started tickling them one by one. Both KK and Strong lost their grip immediately and came down laughing. Auriemma was also hysterical after his goofiness, which gave birth to a fun chaotic video.
One person who was certainly shocked to see this side of him was Paige Bueckers.

From Diana Taurasi to Sue Bird, from Maya Moore to Napheesa Collier, almost every player has faced the music when playing under Auriemma. Whether it be strictness of routine or his gameplay, almost every player has complained about his strictness.
Clearly Auriemma has softened over the years. But goofiness is a side that not many have enjoyed to see from Geno. That mischievous, chlid-like smile graced us all and fans loved it.
