UConn Huskies star Azzi Fudd admitted that she had met the fiancee of global music star Taylor Swift years ago apart from their most recent meeting. In the latest episode of her “Fudd Around and Find Out” podcast on YouTube on Friday, Sept. 5, Fudd was asked by her co-host in Ashanti Plummer about how she previously met three-time Super Bowl champion and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for the first time.
Fudd then revealed that she actually met Kelce during a celebratory gathering she did with her former team in the sport of flag football. Fudd admitted that in high school, she used to play the sport, and even won a championship in it that ultimately led to her meeting Kelce as her and her team reeled in the victory.
“We actually met in 2017. I think I was in eighth grade. I was playing, I used to play flag football… So, it was right after we won, and we were at Disney celebrating, and he was there for the Pro Bowl. And, I didn’t watch football so I had no idea who he was. My teammate knew who he was, recognized him, loves him,” Fudd shared. (0:24)
“So, we took a group picture, and that’s like, I think it’s so funny ’cause it just made this really full circle moment. So, I did a campaign with Travis Kelce’s clothing line, True Colors and American Eagle. So, getting to show him that picture and be like, ‘We’ve actually met before. Like I know you don’t remember it, but I thought that was so funny,'” she added.
Fudd is currently in the offseason before her fifth and final year of collegiate basketball in the upcoming 2025-26 campaign. She won her first national championship, 12th overall for coach Geno Auriemma’s Huskies, in the recently-concluded 2024-25 season. They did this by defeating the 2024 reigning national champions in the South Carolina Gamecocks through a 23-point drubbing, 82-59, in this year’s NCAA title game.

Azzi Fudd and Travis Kelce actually met because the former was one of the NIL athletes that was tapped by the latter’s clothing brand for a photoshoot. Back on Aug. 26, Fudd shared photos of her donning an olive green and white varsity jacket that came from the latest collection of Kelce’s clothing brand, True Colors, and its collaboration with global clothing company American Eagle.
Fudd will now take on the reigns as the veteran star for the UConn Huskies as they gun for their program’s second consecutive national championship, 13th overall, in the 2025-26 campaign.
