“Audi Crooks = Nikola Jokic”: Iowa State Star’s Abysmal Defense Makes Fans Critical

One name in almost every conversation this season in women’s college basketball is Audi Crooks. She is having what you call a generational season. She has played like she wants to announce herself to the world. This season has been a testament to her dedication and commitment. She has the world’s eyes on her as the next big star.

Crooks is averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 15 games this season. She is a dominant player who has found her stride. She is in her junior year but has been unstoppable this season.

Iowa State is eighth in the Big 12 with a 14-2 record. The two losses came in their last two matches. Iowa State lost 71-63 to Cincinnati and 72-70 to Baylor.

While the heart of their success has been Audi Crooks, there is a glaring weakness in her game, and that is defense. Crooks has been leading almost all offensive stats in the Big 12, but for defense, she has had some struggles lately.

The clip from the game against Cincinnati shows Crooks’ inactivity during the defense. There was little to no movement, and her guarding of the opponent was also minimal at best. Fans online picked on this and reacted to her defensive highlights.

“Audi Crooks = Jokic,” one fan compared.

“She can’t jump, she can’t move fast, she can’t play defense, she can’t pass, she can’t shoot from mid or long range, so what can she do? Offensive foul people and shoot a layup. Why are they hyping this woman up?” another fan said.

“How shocking, she’s not actually a great complete basketball player…,” another fan made the observation.

“She’s not an athlete. She’s a mountain,” another commented.

“No one likes to hear this, but she’s just too heavy to be a complete player,” one fan replied.

“Luka been playing like that for a decade and no one cared,” another fan made the comparison.

Audi Crooks Addresses Iowa State’s First Loss of the Season

After the game, a reporter asked Crooks what she would take away from Iowa State’s loss and how Iowa State would bounce back.

“You don’t wanna play your best basketball in January. You don’t wanna be a monster in January. You wanna be a monster in March. And in order to do that, you need to recognize your flaws, you need to recognize your shortcomings and if you don’t lose, if we would have won today, those rebounds that I missed would seem a lot less significant,” Audi Crooks said.
