A’ja Wilson Sends 5-Word Message As Kim Mulkey’s Ex 5-Star Recruit Shows Off Impressive Shooting Skills

A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces have turned their season around over the last few weeks. Wilson has been putting up big numbers and breaking records consistently. Meanwhile, her teammates are doing their jobs brilliantly to take the team to the playoffs.

The Aces recently registered a dominant 106-87 win over the Dallas Wings. Wilson breached the 30-point mark yet again, dropping 34 points with eight rebounds in the win. The player who impressed Wilson the most during the game was NaLyssa Smith.

Smith, a former five-star recruit at the Baylor Bears, who were coached by Kim Mulkey until 2021, had 14 points and four rebounds. But it was her shot-making ability that made Wilson beam with pride and give her a shoutout.

She reposted a video from the Aces’ official Instagram account to her IG story with the caption:

In the clip, Smith can be seen hitting back-to-back corner threes. With over three minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Aces were up 95-76. Smith, wide open at the corner, received a long pass from Chelsea Gray.

With enough time to get into a proper stance, she calmly drained the three and caught nothing but the net. On the very next possession, she received a pass from Jackie Young and once again, she was wide open for the shot. After draining back-to-back threes, she extended the Aces’ lead to 23 points.

Wilson also made history during the Wings game. She now holds the record for most games in WNBA history with 20+ points, 5+ rebounds, 2+ steals, and 2+ blocks. She also moved to the ninth position on the all-time blocks list in the league.

A’ja Wilson couldn’t believe she made WNBA history

Wilson has been breaking so many records lately that it must be getting difficult for her to keep up with everything. During a game against the Sun, she dropped 32 points with 20 rebounds to help secure a 94-86 win.

She became the first WNBA player to register a 30-20 double-double. When asked about her latest feat after the game, Wilson couldn’t believe no one had ever done that before her.

“It’s huge,” said Wilson, who registered her 30th career 30-point game and sixth this season. “I didn’t even know, as many greats as we have in this league, it’s kind of a shocker that it’s just now happening. It’s a blessing. I love what I do.”

“I love it so much, so anytime that I can come out and just play basketball the way that I love it, and the team, and we’re all getting involved, I’m happy with that.”

Only weeks ago, the Aces had more losses than wins on the chart. Now, they’ve completely turned things around after winning nine of their last 10 games. They are now the fifth seed in the league with 21 wins and 14 losses.
