A’ja Wilson has reached a level of dominance that few players ever touch, and she has done it at just 29 years old. Her numbers, her impact, and her ability to control both ends of the floor have made her one of the most feared and respected players in the world today.
She recently opened up about the mindset behind that success. She talked about what she calls her touch of craziness.
In her words, greatness requires a spark that pushes a player past normal limits, and she believes she has more than a spark. Wilson embraces that energy because it’s part of what separates her.
It fuels her aggression, her celebrations, and the fire she plays with every night. Fans know her as someone who competes with so much force that she slips into another gear, one where emotion and instinct take over.
“I’m crazy because I want to be great,” Wilson said. “You gotta be a little pinch of crazy. I’m not a pinch, god really poured it down on A’ja…But that’s the secret sauce.”
Wilson explained that her intensity takes her to a place where she sometimes loses control in the best possible way. She said she can be stomping and screaming during big moments without even realizing it until later.
“I lose my mind sometimes,” Wilson added. “If you see me out on the court and I’m stomping and I’m screaming, I literally don’t remember doing any of that.”

She explained that her passion often overrides everything else. When she’s locked in, she doesn’t think about how she looks or how loud she is. She simply reacts. That raw instinct has helped build the identity fans see.
A’ja Wilson Is Chasing GOAT Status
Wilson has also acknowledged that her career is trending toward the highest tier of basketball history. She said she is on her way to building a GOAT resume and that she is making it difficult for anyone to catch her.
“I’m on my way there,” Wilson said. “I’m making it real hard for people to chase after me. That’s what it means to be the GOAT.”
It’s a rare level of confidence, but it reflects a season where she collected every major honor available to her. Her confidence carried into the Aces’ championship parade, where she wore Thanos’ infinity gauntlet to symbolize completing a historic run.

She described it as a playful nod to the idea of collecting everything. This year, she did just that. Wilson’s pursuit of greatness is no longer subtle. She is pushing toward a legacy that could place her at the very top of the sport.
