Showcase basketball tournaments are made for players like Addison Bjorn. The five-star talent stunned onlookers with an array of moves.

Now, the competition at these camps is serious. Players who want Division 1 looks will attempt to show out and play well during these camps, as coaches use these games as conduits to their program. Even for a 2026 five-star, Bjorn still wants to get her name out there to draw elite attention.

Addison Bjorn Goes Off During National Showcase

Riverside, Missouri, may not seem like a basketball hotbed, but anyplace in the Midwest, which occupies the middle of the United States, remains a basketball-hungry region, for both men and women.

As this article from KMBC attests, Addison Bjorn began to hone her craft at a young age.

“I think they were 4 years old. We still have videos of the two of them, Carson and Addison, you know, at the YMCA, dribbling, Carson guarding Addison, and then, you know, making shots. They were all boys except Addison.”

“And some of the moms were like, ‘Oh my gosh, there’s a girl on the team.’ And I always thought, just give her a minute. She’s going to be running circles around these boys.” Bjorn’s parents, Darren and Karie, describing the early days. of their daughter’s basketball journey.

As mentioned, the tweet displays Bjorn’s entire bag of talents. First, she plays through contact to finish at the rim. That is to say, you will see many and-one/continuation calls going her way. That skill becomes vital when teams want to establish dominance in the paint, leading to late-game foul trouble for opponents.

Additionally, Bjorn shows a deft touch off the dribble, excellent footwork, and the dexterity to defeat opponents of the dribble. She weaves into the lane and shows a knack for ambidextrous lay-ins. On the defensive side of the ball, Bjorn’s length and reach will help her block shots and pull down rebounds.

Not to mention, instead of considering defense a necessary evil, she approaches it with pride and passion. Two months ago, Bjorn spoke to On3 writer Talia Goodman about her best qualities as a player.

“I feel like whatever coach needs; I find a way to do it. My versatility is something that you can’t really teach, and you either have it or don’t. A lot of people talk about having versatility, but I mean, I can guard whatever position depending on the five, which is a little questionable.”

” I just think I see the court really well, and I get other people involved. Without having the ball in my hand, I think I slash and cut really well, and I move off the ball.”

With one more year of high school basketball remaining, you will hear her name more and more. You can see that in three of the schools that made her final 15 programs.

Iowa offered her a scholarship in 2022, and the offer stands. This makes sense because Bjorn’s AAU team is located in Iowa, so the offer is familiar. Next, UCLA offered her a scholarship.

Head coach Cori Close has the Bruins women’s basketball team looking for a centerpiece scorer than can be the hub of the offense while playing hard-nosed defense.

Lastly, you just knew that UConn would be involved. No college coach possesses the resume, legacy, and tradition established by Geno Auriemma. The Huskies want to reclaim their throne after a brief hiatus.

Addison Bjorn can continue the recent path established by standout basketball players, leading their team to championship appearances.
