Jazzy Davidson and the USC Trojans went head-to-head with the Oregon Ducks in a tightly contested matchup Tuesday, and Davidson paid tribute to WNBA standout Sabrina Ionescu through her footwear choice.
Jazzy Davidson Dons Sabrina Ionescu Sneakers in USC-Oregon Game
With Oregon alumna Ionescu watching from the stands, Davidson laced up a player-exclusive version of the Nike Sabrina 3s, featuring a predominantly red colorway and her name, “Jazzy,” stitched in black.
Basketball sneaker reporter Nick DePaula posted images of Davidson’s shoes on X, which incorporate details such as textile weaving and embroidered elements that reference Ionescu’s Romanian heritage.
Ionescu later shared a video on her Instagram story highlighting Davidson’s footwear and posing for the camera during the game.
Davidson delivered an impressive all-around performance, recording 14 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, but USC fell 71-66 and slipped to 10-5 on the season. Kara Dunn paced the Trojans with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Londynn Jones chipped in 14 points.
Oregon was led by Ehis Etute, who finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Katie Fiso added 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Davidson is in the midst of an impressive freshman campaign, averaging 16.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Next on the schedule for her and the Trojans is a road matchup against the 10-4 Minnesota Golden Gophers, who are led by guards Grace Grocholski and Tori McKinney.
Ionescu Hopes Sabrina 3s Inspires Young Basketball Players
Ionescu and Nike unveiled the Sabrina 3s in July, and the New York Liberty star shared her hopes for the shoe’s impact in a press release.
“I know every single basketball player who puts on the Sabrina 3 will continue to see and feel the work that we’ve put in to create the best performance shoe that we can,” Ionescu said.
“This shoe represents so much of me, from the vertical Swoosh that we’ve had since the Sabrina 1 to the design touches personal to me. I hope it inspires all hoopers, especially young girls, helping them continue to break down barriers and believe in themselves.”
Ionescu’s signature sneaker line found immediate success, as the Sabrina 1 and Sabrina 2 quickly became popular choices among basketball players worldwide, regardless of gender.
Multiple player editions of the Sabrina 3s have already surfaced, including pairs worn by Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, the Duke basketball team and more.
