“Greatest Accomplishment Has Been Destroying Caitlin Clark”: Jason Whitlock Ridicules A’ja Wilson’s Athlete of the Year Award Over Shohei Ohtani And More

A’ja Wilson recently made history, as she was named Time Magazine’s 2025 Athlete of the Year. The WNBA star broke multiple records again this year, just like in so many seasons before this one. Wilson led the Las Vegas Aces to their third championship in the last four years.

She also won her record fourth WNBA MVP award, while picking her second WNBA Finals MVP and third Defensive Player of the Year awards. In a highly successful season, Wilson swept multiple individual awards, including the AP Athlete of the Year award and Time Magazine’s Athlete of the Year honor.

While the majority is hailing A’ja Wilson’s successful season, some are not impressed. Analyst Jason Whitlock brought Caitlin Clark into the conversation and said:

“Let me tell you what A’ja Wilson and the WNBA’s greatest accomplishment is. And I say this in all seriousness and I want your reaction to it. Their greatest accomplishment has been destroying Caitlin Clark. That’s like you took something that special that could have been a gift to give you. Caitlin Clark’s an afterthought right now. She is. They have diminished Caitlin Clark. The greatest gift they ever had. That’s unprecedented.”

He also listed a few names who he thought deserved the Time’s Athlete of the Year award ahead of A’ja Wilson. At the top of the list was baseball star Shohei Ohtani, who had a slash line of .282/.392/.622 and 54 home runs, all while pitching 47 innings, a 2.87 ERA, and 1.90 FIP. This earned him an MVP award, and for a season like this, many believe Ohtani deserves every Athlete of the Year award.

Fans React to Jason Whitlock’s Harsh Take on A’ja Wilson’s Athlete of the Year Award

Fans online were as brutal as Jason Whitlock was about A’ja Wilson, Shohei Ohtani, and Time Magazine.

“Nobody cares what Time magazine thinks,” one fan commented.

“It doesn’t diminish Shohei, it exposes Time,” another said.

“I bet you a lot of people don’t even know who she is..nobody takes Time seriously anymore,” one fan stated.

“Time is a worthless magazine. Not even good for lining a birdcage,” another made judgment.

“A’ja Wilson winning over a Pitcher that hits homers is completely out of touch with reality,” one fan claimed.

“Time magazine is a ‘BIG JOKE’, I didn’t know they were still around,” another replied.
