Running back Josh Jacobs and the Green Bay Packers are set to take on the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. It is a battle between the Packers, who have looked like a Super Bowl contender, and the Browns, who have looked like a contender for the first pick in the 2026 NFL draft. However, an obstacle for the Packers could be the availability of Josh Jacobs.
Jacobs has put together two solid performances to start the season, making 42 carries for 150 yards and two TDs. However, a report on Wednesday from The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman indicated that Jacobs is dealing with an ankle injury. Although he has not missed time yet, he had limited participation in practice on Wednesday.

There has not been an indication from the coaching staff about whether Jacobs will be available for the team’s Week 3 matchup. However, according to Rotowire, Jacobs is listed as questionable for the weekend matchup.
Jacobs has received the vast majority of the carries for the Packers this season. So, if he is not available, it could cause problems for the Packers’ offense, even against a seemingly weak opponent in Cleveland.

The Green Bay Packers Could Struggle if Josh Jacobs Cannot Play Against Cleveland’s Rush Defense
While the Packers are heavily favored to win against the Browns, if Josh Jacobs is unavailable, it could cause an issue for them. While the Browns are a flawed team, they have the No. 1-ranked rush defense in the league, limiting opponents to just 45.5 rushing yards per game in the first two games of the year.
Jacobs has made 42 carries this year. The other six players who have rushed this season have only made a combined 13 carries. So, without Jacobs, the Packers will likely need to rely on their passing game. That should not be an issue for the team as Jordan Love is a more than capable quarterback, but it will make their offense more one-dimensional.
Fortunately for the Packers, Jacobs was only limited at practice and was able to participate a little bit. So, there is a possibility that he will be available for the Packers by the time the game starts on Sunday.
