Julian Sayin has yet to be officially named Ohio State’s starting quarterback, but momentum is building around the young signal-caller. Many are eager to see him take the reins, and one of his biggest supporters is his predecessor, Will Howard. During the NFL Scouting Combine, Howard had plenty to praise about Sayin.

Will Howard Raves About Julian Sayin
Sayin is not the only one in the race for Ohio State’s starting quarterback job. Returning signal-caller Lincoln Kienholz is also in the mix, keeping the Buckeyes in evaluation mode as they decide who will lead the offense in 2025 after Howard’s departure to the NFL Draft.
However, Howard appears to have already made his pick, throwing his support behind Sayin over Kienholz.
“We just had a great vibe in that room, and we had a lot of fun together. And I’m excited for them to kind of take over and be the guys going forward. Because Julian coming in, he’s a little soft-spoken guy, he’s quiet. But now it’s his time, now it’s Lincoln and Tavian and those guys,” Howard said.

He even further expressed his excitement about the future of the college football program, believing that the team is in really good hands right now.
“And I’m excited for them, man. I hope that I could have had a little bit of an impact on them. Gave some of the things that I’ve learned from some of the guys that were above me when I was at Kansas State, like Adrian and Skyler,” he added.
Howard also reflected on his time at Ohio State, expressing hope that he left a lasting impact on his teammates. Whether through leadership, work ethic, or preparation, he wanted to set an example to carry over to the next generation of Buckeye quarterbacks.
“And some of the guys that I learned from there, I hope I could have left some nuggets with them and showed them, at the very least, how to treat people. And how to work hard, and all those different things. I mean, I’m rooting for those guys, man. I’m pulling for them, and we still stay in contact. So I’m gonna be pulling for the Buckeyes big time next year.”
Howard is currently rooting for the team and will be closely monitoring its trajectory in the upcoming season.
Will Howard Considers Sayin to Be ‘One of the Most Accurate Quarterbacks’
At the NFL Combine, Howard doubled down on his support for Sayin, offering even more insight into what makes the young quarterback unique. He expressed confidence that Sayin is more than ready to step into a leadership role.
“Julian’s one of the most accurate quarterbacks I’ve been around, and the ball just looks so pretty coming out of his hand,” Howard told reporters on Feb. 28. “Like it spins prettier than I’ve seen a lot of balls come out of quarterbacks’ hands. And he’s got a real chance to be elite, man.”

“I’m excited for him. He definitely is stepping into that leadership position, and I’m excited for him to take on that new role,” Howard continued.
At just 19 years old, Sayin already earns strong backing to take over as Ohio State’s starting quarterback. With momentum building in his favor, all eyes are now on the Buckeyes as they decide who will lead the offense in 2025.
