    Will Howard Injury Update: Ohio State QB Exits Game Briefly vs. Michigan Following Vicious Hit

    The Ohio State Buckeyes found themselves trailing early to arch-rival Michigan Wolverines. Just after the beginning of the second quarter, however, their game took a dramatic turn.

    Quarterback Will Howard scrambled for a first down only to take a vicious hit between two Michigan defenders, putting his status for the rest of the game in doubt.

    What Happened to Will Howard?

    With 12:37 left in the second quarter, Howard took a third-down snap from Michigan’s 35-yard line. He dropped back to pass, went through his progressions, and ultimately didn’t find any open receivers.

    Howard broke contain and looked to scramble for the first down. He hit the edge of the formation and took off, only to be grabbed by Michigan defender Ernest Hausmann. As he was being brought down by Hausmann, Michigan’s Makari Paige laid a massive hit on Howard.

    Howard lay on the ground for a minute, attempting to get up, before the broadcast broke into a commercial.

    With Howard out, the broadcast resumed, and Devin Brown took over for Howard as the quarterback of the Buckeyes. With no official status on Howard just yet, Brown was leaned upon to keep the Buckeyes in the game during Howard’s absence.

    However, following a fourth-down conversion and a lengthy television timeout, Michigan took a timeout on defense, so Howard warmed up and eventually returned to the field.
