Playing Behind Drew Allar a Big Reason for the Transfer

Drew Allar was Penn State’s QB1 last season, so Pribula entered the transfer portal after the Big Ten Championship and was ultimately picked up by Missouri.

“The current NCAA post-season model creates a challenge for student-athletes,” Pribula said on social media. “The overlapping CFP playoff & transfer portal timeline has forced me to make an impossible decision. After speaking at length with my family and coaches, it is with a heavy heart that I announce my intentions to enter the transfer portal and depart from the team to explore opportunities elsewhere.”

This all happened prior to Penn State’s loss in the CFP semifinals, in which Allar made a critical mistake by throwing an interception. Notre Dame won that game 27-24.

NIL Opportunity Another Reason for the Transfer

Pribula signed a lucrative $1.5 million name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights deal, putting him up with some of the SEC’s top quarterbacks. Missouri edged out Iowa, UCF, and Ole Miss to sign him to that deal.

The Tigers also seem to have little confidence in Drew Pyne, who backed up Cook and had three touchdowns to three interceptions in six games in 2024.

Pribula’s resume isn’t that much bigger. He has 424 career yards, nine touchdowns, and just one interception to his credit so far. He also had some solid rushing stats, though,  with 571 yards and 10 touchdowns in his career with the Nittany Lions.

However, he has Big Ten-level experience, which is what the Tigers need, given that Cook has run out of eligibility and won’t be available to the Tigers in 2025.
