The NFL Draft is an intimate process, as cameras are shoved in the faces of each of the players — whether in the Green Room at the NFL Draft location or in their own homes.
It’s not uncommon for a wife or girlfriend to steal the show, whether they look familiar or are involved in an iconic moment (examples include CeeDee Lamb, Will Levis, Lukas Van Ness’ significant others, etc.). Most of those viral moments are cast in a somewhat negative light, however, as a relationship that seems perfect isn’t newsworthy.
But it was different for former LSU Tigers offensive tackle Will Campbell once he was selected by the New England Patriots with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Ashlynn Nussmeier, Campbell’s girlfriend, is LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier’s sister. That means that Campbell, as the left tackle that he was, was protecting the blindside of his girlfriend’s brother.
And Nussmeier is no slouch either — aided by Campbell’s protection, he threw for 4,052 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in leading the Tigers to a nine win season during his junior season.
Nussmeier had some interest by NFL teams if he were to enter this year’s draft; instead, he opted to head back to LSU for his final year and will be apart of the 2026 NFL Draft. Our latest mock draft has him going No. 22 overall — but he’ll have a chance in the fall to improve on that spot.
Ashlynn’s family of football doesn’t end there, however.

Her father, Doug, has been a longtime coach and is currently the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints.
It’s safe to say that Ashlynn is surrounded by football — which doesn’t seem to be a problem for her, as her and Campbell looked overjoyed on draft day as they’ll be headed to New England.
