Kennedy Urlacher, a sophomore safety for Notre Dame this season, has entered the NCAA transfer portal. He has three years of college eligibility remaining and entered the portal with a “do not contact” designation.
As a freshman, Urlacher appeared in 14 of Notre Dame’s 16 games. He played in all four College Football Playoff contests, including the national championship. While he didn’t crack the defensive rotation, he was a regular contributor on special teams.

Breaking Down Kennedy Urlacher’s Family Ties
Kennedy Urlacher was born May 20, 2005, to Brian Urlacher and Tyna Karageorge. Brian Urlacher is a former linebacker who played 13 seasons in the NFL.
Tyna Karageorge, born in 1974, is of American nationality. She has two children—Kennedy and Oonagh Paige, the latter of whom she had with Ryan Karageorge. Karageorge was involved in several legal disputes with Brian Urlacher regarding custody and welfare issues surrounding their son, including a defamation lawsuit she filed against him in 2018.
Brian Urlacher, born in 1978, was selected ninth overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2000 NFL Draft. He won NFL Rookie of the Year and went on to earn eight Pro Bowl selections, four first-team All-Pro honors and NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2005.
He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018. He has two other children, Pamela and Riley, with ex-wife Laurie Urlacher.
Urlacher’s Notre Dame Shortened via Portal Entrance
Urlacher played in 14 of Notre Dame’s 16 games as a freshman. Primarily used on special teams, he logged the 11th-most special teams appearances of anyone on the roster. He recorded 12 total tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass breakup.
“Honestly, kickoff is my favorite,” Urlacher said during Notre Dame’s spring practice. “I love punt. Kick return is alright, but kickoff, I think I can definitely have a shot at playing right there.”
