Whit Weeks Injury Update: LSU Linebacker’s Status Explored Ahead of Major Matchup vs. Vanderbilt

LSU star linebacker Whit Weeks has been battling a bone bruise. He was able to suit up for the team’s game against South Carolina last week, registering eight total tackles, including five solo efforts and half a sack. However, he appeared on the injury report this week, being listed as doubtful. Additionally, he was seen in a boot at LSU practice earlier this week.

An initial report from insider Pete Thamel on Friday afternoon indicated that Weeks planned to warm up with the team ahead of their matchup against Vanderbilt. he would then see if he was able to play.

“Sources: LSU linebacker Whit Weeks (ankle) plans to warm up and attempt to play at No. 17 Vanderbilt. He’s considered doubtful for the No. 10 Tigers, as he’s been limited in practice and faces long odds to play. He is expected to give it a shot, as he battles a bone bruise.”

However, Thamel had a follow-up Tweet on Saturday morning indicating that Weeks will not participate in the game.

“Per an ESPN source, Whit Weeks is out today at Vanderbilt.”

It is an unfortunate blow for the Tigers as they take on a strong Vanderbilt squad.

The LSU Tigers Will Take On Vanderbilt Without Whit Weeks

The No. 10-ranked LSU Tigers will now take on the No. 17-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores without Whit Weeks. The Tigers had a big bounce-back win last week, defeating South Carolina 20-10. This came after their loss to No. 5-ranked Ole Miss two weeks prior.

Vanderbilt is coming off a bye week. Before that, it suffered its first loss of the season to No. 6-ranked Alabama. Before that, Vanderbilt had handily dispatched five unranked opponents. This matchup will be a strong indicator of the overall quality of both teams.
